    Answer: The foliage needs a half-day of winter sun to thrive and soak up plenty of sun energy.

  • Question: Are these flowers deer resistant?

    Answer: Deer almost always leave them alone. They may eat anything when they are hungry enough, but all accounts seem to say that deer will leave the flowers alone.

    Answer: To grow spider lilies successfully in the Seattle area, a gravelly well-drained soil and/or a slope to provide good drainage is recommended. They do not like to be moved, so select a permanent location for them.

    Answer: Typically, they are measured by circumference. A lot of red spider lilies are 8 to 10 cm in circumference, large are 10-12cm, and jumbos are 12cm plus in circumference. The best way to measure it uses something like the soft sewing measuring tape that you can wrap around the bulb.

    Answer: Red spider lilies grow in winter and bloom in Fall. Foliage should start to appear in November/December and grow all winter. The blooms should appear next fall and bloom fairly reliably every year after that.

    Answer: Red Spider Lilies are fairly drought-resistant and prefer well-drained soil. Typically, they do not like cold climates. If you are in zones 6b to 10a, you should be good to go.

    Answer: Yes, these are fine to plant now in Tennessee.
  • Question: Can you store the bulbs to plant at a later date?

    Answer: Yes, you can. Store the bulbs in a cool, dark, well-ventilated spot. Plant your bulbs as soon as you can when you have time.
  • Question: What is the circumference size of the bulbs that will be included in an order?

    Answer: They were about the size of my thumb in circumference, some were doubles, that I split up and planted as a single build. All in all, I was satisfied with bulb quality.

    Answer: The package did not specify that they were organic—only specified they were heirloom lilies.
