Answer: I compared the bamboo needle to an aluminum straight needle, both size 9 and could not detect any difference in size. The takumi bamboo needle is very smooth with no snagging. Hope this helps. -

Answer: You need to knit a swatch to find your actual gauge. Different yarns, patterns, and your tension will change the gauge.
