The New Pig Multi-Purpose Epoxy Putty is a two-part epoxy that comes in a pack of six 4 oz tubes. It is chemically compatible with gasoline and diesel fuel so it is ideal for repairing gas tanks. It adheres to steel, glass, masonry, wood, and hard non-flexible plastics. However, it is not compatible with softer materials such as plaster, drywall, or flexible plastics. The putty has a shelf life of 2 years inside the original tube with the cap on. The working time of the product is 3-5 minutes, meaning you only have this time to form it into the required shape and apply it to the area being patched. After 20 minutes, it will be cured and fully cured after 60 minutes, which is when it can be drilled, sanded, etc. The putty can be used as a plug for active leaks. Simply rough up the area and clean it well before breaking off a piece of putty larger than the hole and mixing it until uniform in color. Press it into the leak for about a minute before breaking off a larger portion and mixing again. Place this over the 'plug' and use water on gloved fingers to smooth out the putty and feather the edges. The putty will dry to an off-white color, which can become slightly tan when exposed to long-term sunlight.
