- The Sausage Maker Natural Sheep Casings, 22-24 mm (7/8-1). An edible casing generally used to make pork sausage links or breakfast sausage. Approximately 100 yards long. Salted casings have a very long shelf life when stored properly. Un-refrigerated, these salted casings quickly begin to give off a strong odor even though they are not spoiled. Put them back under refrigeration and this odor for the most part subsides. Stuffing capacity: Approximately 40 lbs. Diameter: Approximately 7/8 to 1 when stuffed
